About

Built for students who want to learn, not just get answers.

Math.Photos is an AI-powered browser extension that solves math problems from screenshots with step-by-step explanations. It works on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari — right where students do their homework.

Why Math.Photos exists

Students do homework on computers — PDFs, Canvas, WebAssign, Google Docs. But every math solver is either a phone app (Photomath) or requires retyping problems (Mathway, Symbolab). Math.Photos bridges this gap: screenshot any problem from your screen and get an explanation that teaches you the concept, not just the answer.

The Teach Me mode uses Socratic questioning — asking you guiding questions instead of handing over the solution. Research shows that active recall and the generation effect (producing answers yourself) lead to significantly better retention than passive reading.

How it works

1

Screenshot any math problem

Select a region of your screen — works with typed text, handwriting, PDFs, and complex notation.

2

AI processes and solves

Multiple AI models (Claude and GPT) analyze the problem. Solutions are cross-verified for accuracy with confidence scores.

3

Get step-by-step explanations

Every step is explained in plain language with the math rendered properly. Ask follow-up questions about any step.
